Aheer Transportation and Prudential Transportation drivers, represented by Unifor, may strike Friday over health and dental benefits and waiting-time pay. Unifor says about 170 trucks, roughly 10 per cent of those serving the port, would be affected, and Aheer has already reached a tentative deal.
The strike threat adds to Vancouver port congestion, which slows grain and oilseed exports from western Canada. The direct feed price effect is small.
