China's third-quarter pork output reached 12.11 million tonnes, up less than 1% year on year, after farmers cut breeding herds following heavy losses earlier in the year. The total pig herd rose to 443.94 million head at end-September from 430.57 million at end-June.
Slowing pork output growth and a rebuilding herd point to continued firm Chinese hog prices and sustained demand for feed, though a larger herd signals future supply expansion.
