Now what? The practical implementation of the EUDR in Europe and Producing Countries

A Sustainable Nutrition Platform roundtable on October 17, 2023 discussed how the EU Deforestation Regulation (EUDR) is being implemented in Europe and producing countries. The EUDR was formally adopted on June 29, 2023, and covers wood, rubber, palm oil, soy, beef, coffee and cacao.

Belgium and the Netherlands have begun transposition, while many other member states are moving slowly.

Uneven national implementation adds compliance cost and uncertainty for soy and palm oil exporters to the EU, which could redirect feed and oil flows and affect regional price spreads.
