The PBOC set the yuan midpoint at 7.1534 per dollar on July 1, its strongest since November 2024. The CFETS trade-weighted basket fell to 95.15, its lowest since January 2021, showing the yuan strengthening against the dollar but weakening against a broader basket.
The divergence means China's import costs from non-dollar suppliers are not uniformly lower, so the effect on feed import pricing is mixed and limited.
