The GIWA crop report forecasts 365,000 hectares of oats sown in Western Australia in 2025, up from just over 320,000 ha in 2024. Milling oats at about $380-400/t are priced competitively with barley and wheat, and growers are favoring grain over hay.
Expanded WA oat plantings could add supply later in the year, which may partly ease upward pressure on Australian oat prices.
