India is reportedly considering lifting its ban on wheat flour exports before easing curbs on wheat grain, according to a government official. Wheat procurement reached 29.92 million tonnes by June 30, the highest in three years, and the government says wheat supply is not in surplus like rice.
Flour export relief would add some demand for Indian wheat-derived products, but the wheat grain ban staying in place keeps Indian supply off world markets, which is mildly supportive for global wheat prices.
