The yuan climbed to its strongest level in a year against the dollar, breaking through 7.10. Traders attributed the move to year-end dollar selling by exporters and momentum trading, while weak October factory and retail data limited gains.
Exporter conversion flows are seasonal and temporary, so the yuan's strength may not persist. Any sustained appreciation would slightly ease the cost of Chinese purchases of US feed ingredients.
