Global gas markets are increasingly pricing tight supply well beyond winter because the Iran war is disrupting Gulf LNG exports. Europe is outbidding Asia for cargoes to refill storage, and forward curves now show tightness into next year.
The IGU says short-term demand destruction is occurring.
Prolonged LNG tightness keeps European and Asian gas prices elevated, raising energy and nitrogen fertilizer costs for feed producers. Higher natural gas costs also feed through to ammonia and urea prices.

Same-day IGU commentary that Iran war disruption of Gulf LNG exports is keeping supply tight beyond winter, with Europe outbidding Asia for cargoes, supports a supply-driven repricing of gas forward curves and plausibly contributed to the 7.28% jump, though it describes an ongoing situation rather than a fresh shock.
