Brazilian farmers had planted 0.3% of their first corn crop by late the prior week, versus 1.6% a year earlier, with wet conditions slowing planting especially in Rio Grande do Sul. Argentina's sunflower planting was 11.5% complete against a 6.9% average, and the Rosario Grain Exchange expects Argentine corn acreage to fall 5.4% in 2026/27.
Slow Brazilian first-crop corn planting and a smaller expected Argentine corn area tighten near-term export supply, supporting corn prices. Sunflower planting is ahead of normal, which is a minor offset for sunflower meal.
