The CME plans changes effective September 9 to live cattle contract delivery standards. The changes add a new par grade of 70% choice and 30% select, and allow delivery of steers up to 1,600 pounds, beginning with the February 2021 contract.
Changing grade and weight specifications affects how deliverable cattle are valued against cash prices, which could change futures-cash convergence, but the immediate price impact is limited.
