Exceptionally warm weather across much of the US cut gas consumption for space heating and power generation. The EIA reported working gas storage rose 73 Bcf to 3,909 Bcf, slightly below the 2011-2015 average.
Heating degree days last week were about two-thirds lower than the same week in 2015.
Weak heating demand cut short-term gas use and drove prices down after strong September and October gains. Storage still builds more slowly than last year, so the structural balance remains tighter, which limits downside.
