Precision Planting's test plots at Pontiac, Illinois, harvested 65 bushels per acre from soybeans planted April 26 despite wide row spacing and a month-long planting delay. Early-planted beans were the top performers in 2018, while the late-planted trial yielded about 2 more bushels per acre in 2019.
The trial shows that agronomic practices can offset weather losses, which limits how much weather-driven yield shortfall the market can expect from U.S. soybeans.
