Russia's sea grain exports fell threefold. In October 2026, Russian grain shipped from sea ports dropped from about 7 million tonnes to 2.3 million, per the Russian Grain Union.
Wheat took the biggest hit. Wheat shipments fell 3.1 times, down to 2 million tonnes. That's a lot less Russian wheat leaving by sea in a single month.
Ports in use: 43 down to 21. Azov-Black Sea volumes collapsed, while Baltic routes grew. Grain is still moving, but through far fewer ports.
What it means for buyers. Less Black Sea supply pushes buyers toward Baltic origin. That can mean tighter export supply for wheat and barley, plus extra freight and logistics cost.
