India has extended by six months, to December 31, 2018, an exemption to its rule requiring methyl bromide fumigation of crop cargoes. The extension allows continued imports of pulses and wheat.
India has also imposed tariffs on Canadian peas, lentils and chickpeas.
Keeping the fumigation exemption eases import logistics for wheat and pulses, supporting continued trade flows into India.
