Golden-Agri Resources (GAR) is in a escalating dispute with Greenpeace and other NGOs over its Golden Veroleum project in Liberia, which withdrew from RSPO after complaints from the Forest Peoples Programme about the Blogbo community. GAR remains an RSPO member and says it has no management control over the subsidiary.
The dispute could pressure RSPO and the High Carbon Stock Approach ahead of the November RSPO meeting and EU HCS rules, which could tighten palm oil market access in Europe over time.
