Mexico's 2020 decree to phase out GM corn for human consumption by January 2024 and ban glyphosate is threatening U.S. farm exports, according to the National Corn Growers Association. Mexico has also listed 80 crop-protection products it considers hazardous and has about 2,000 delayed pesticide registrations pending.
Mexico is the top or second-largest U.S. corn export market, so a loss of access would weigh on U.S. corn demand and export prices, while uncertainty adds to trade risk for feed buyers.
