A Mexican court granted Bayer an injunction on July 12 that suspends the 2020 presidential decree ordering the phase-out of glyphosate and GM corn imports by 2024. The injunction lets Bayer keep supplying glyphosate and GM seeds until the court resolves the case on its merits.
Mexico's Environment Ministry said it disagreed with the ruling and would challenge it.
Continued access for GM corn supports Mexican demand for U.S. corn, a key export market, so the ruling is mildly supportive for prices while the legal challenge plays out.
