Saudi Arabia pledged on Sunday to cut oil output by 1 million bpd, or 10%, in July on top of existing OPEC+ cuts. With the Saudi reduction, the group will take about 4.6 million bpd off the market in July, equal to 4.6% of global demand.
OPEC+ also agreed to extend its 3.66 million bpd cuts into 2024.
Roughly 4.6 million bpd removed from supply is a large tightening that supports crude prices. US shale producers may respond with more output, which could cap the rally over time.
