Advocacy groups IATP, Rural Coalition and Alianza Nacional de Campesinas filed a request to submit written views supporting Mexico's GM corn ban in the USMCA dispute. The US formally requested the panel on August 17, and the dispute covers the tortilla corn ban and gradual substitution of non-GM corn in food and feed.
Support for Mexico's position does not change the trade outcome directly, but it signals the dispute will be contested, keeping risk to US corn exports to Mexico in place. The filing itself is not a decision.
