FranceAgriMer raised its forecast of French soft wheat exports outside the EU for 2023/24 to 10.2 million tons, citing higher projected sales to China. It cut EU-bound shipments by a similar volume to 6.69 million tons and raised end-season stocks to 3.22 million tons after the starch industry's use was cut following a fire at a Tereos plant.
It also warned that the 2024 harvest could fall further after heavy rain limited sowings.
Stronger non-EU export demand from China supports European wheat values, but a larger projected carryout and concern over the 2024 crop cap the upside. The net effect on feed wheat prices is modest.
