Day one of the 2026 Pro Farmer Crop Tour found Ohio corn yields down 3% and soybean pod counts down 7% from 2025, while South Dakota corn yield estimates were down 14.4% with pod counts down 20%. Scouts reported heat and pollination stress in the west and late-planted, immature crops in the east.
Yield declines in South Dakota and weak pod counts across the sampled states point to smaller crops than last year. This supports corn and soybean prices, although the tour's full national results were still pending.
