Belle Valley Ancient Grains

Ancient wheat and grain varieties, always grown chemical free and non GMO, from the Belle Fourche River Valley of western South Dakota. Having re-learned to farm the way it was done 100 years ago, without pesticides, herbicides, modern hybrids, or nitrogen fertilizer, we use crop rotation to harvest as nature would allow - sacrificing the maximum yields attainable with modern farming practices, we instead focus on the flavor and quality of older varieties. We only sell what we grow so you can know exactly where your healthy whole grains come from. We encourage you to mill the wheat yourself as it is used or in smaller quantities for freezing as whole wheat goes bad once ground - the aroma of fresh ground wheat is something you will not forget! Also, millng your own allows you to create your own great blends. Want to add some higher protein einkorn or some flax seed for additional health benefits? Easy enough! We can suggest some grain mills such as the WonderMill, economical entry level hand mills, on up to very expensive units. We are FDA registered, all our grain is tested by the Illinois Crop Improvement Lab, We are members of the South Dakota Specialty Producers Association and Northern Plains Sustainable Ag Society.
