The US dollar gauge rose for a third straight week on expectations the Federal Reserve will raise its short-term rate target next month and adjust its longer-term rate forecast. Benchmark US yields have climbed to a 16-month high on the projected tightening.
A stronger dollar and higher US yields tend to weaken commodity prices priced in dollars and pressure emerging-market currencies, which can make US feed grains and meal less competitive abroad.
