The dollar slipped against the yen on January 31 as the yen gained safe-haven demand amid market unease over Trump's immigration policy stance. The dollar fell to as low as 113.24 yen after losing over 1% overnight.
The Bank of Japan's unchanged policy decision was seen as a non-factor.
Safe-haven flows into the yen weaken the dollar, which tends to support dollar-denominated commodity prices; however, the move is driven by US political risk rather than grain or feed supply and demand.
