US natural gas futures rose about 1% to $4.29/MMBtu on Friday, December 26, in thin holiday trading, putting the market on track for a weekly gain that ended a two-week losing streak. Forecasts pointed to colder weather in the eastern US, and LSEG projected lower-48 demand rising to 138.5 bcfd.
Colder forecasts and rising demand projections tighten near-term supply, supporting gas prices and the cost of gas-fired drying and processing for feed producers.
