FiBL released a report, commissioned by Fern, analyzing how current CAP measures may drive deforestation abroad through feed imports. It finds that a reformed CAP dropping certain payments could lower livestock production and corresponding soy feed imports.
The report suggests future CAP reform could reduce EU demand for imported soybean meal over the longer term, but the changes are hypothetical and not yet enacted.
