Chatham House published an analysis identifying 14 critical chokepoints in global food trade, including maritime straits, coastal ports and inland transport routes. It warns that disruption at these points could seriously affect global food security.
Concentrated reliance on a few routes such as the Panama Canal, Suez and Black Sea ports raises the risk that a single disruption would spike freight costs and tighten supplies of grains and soybean meal.
