Malaysia will keep its September crude palm oil export tax at 5.5%, unchanged from August, based on a reference price of RM2,677.91 per tonne. Benchmark palm oil futures fell 1.2% to 2,633 ringgit at the prior close.
A steady export tax leaves Malaysian palm oil export costs unchanged for September, so the tax itself is not a new price shock. Palm oil supply to importers stays on its current trajectory.
