Starting January 1, China will tighten foreign-material limits on U.S. soybean shipments, with cargoes over 1 percent foreign material possibly held for testing, versus the current 2 percent allowance for No. 2 yellow soybeans. The change targets weed seeds from herbicide-resistant weeds.
Stricter specifications raise the risk of delayed or rejected U.S. cargoes and add handling costs, which weighs on U.S. soybean export demand and prices.
