China's yuan eased against the dollar on May 18, on track for its worst week in three months after the PBOC set the midpoint at a one-week low. The dollar firmed on higher US Treasury yields, while markets awaited US-China trade talks where China offered a package of purchases aimed at cutting the deficit by up to $200 billion.
A weaker yuan makes Chinese buying of US commodities more expensive in local terms, a modest bearish factor for US feed demand, while a firmer dollar is generally bearish for dollar-priced grains and meal.
