Coronavirus damage to cattle industry could be $7 billion to $9 billion already

Kansas State economist Glynn Tonsor estimates that cattle sector losses from COVID-19 could reach $7 billion to $9 billion. Per-head value declines since January 7 range from $58 for calves to $126 for fed cattle.

The estimate uses USDA beef cow inventory of 31.32 million head.
