ETF Securities reported commodity prices rose 1.3% in September, led by energy and industrial metals, while the US dollar basket fell about 1%. It noted the US imposed 10% tariffs on a further $200bn of Chinese imports and said grains slumped while livestock and softs rebounded.
Grains weakness and livestock rebound shape feed input pricing, and a weaker dollar supports dollar-priced commodities. Tariff escalation adds trade-flow uncertainty for soy and grain exports.
