Denmark leading the way against deforestation in the EU

Denmark's environment and food minister, as current president of the Amsterdam Declarations Partnership, sent a letter urging the EU Commission to produce an action plan on deforestation. The partnership focuses on deforestation-free palm oil, soy and cocoa supply chains.

Denmark imports about 1.4 to 1.9 million tonnes of soybean meal a year, so EU deforestation rules could eventually affect its feed sourcing. The letter is a policy signal rather than a market-moving measure.
