Bank Negara Malaysia said foreign investors pulled capital from local financial markets in October, with the ringgit down 1% that month amid US dollar strength and portfolio outflows. The central bank attributed the outflows mainly to external developments, including strong US data and Fed rate-hike signals.
Persistent ringgit weakness and capital outflows point to a stronger dollar environment that tends to pressure dollar-denominated commodity prices.
