Purdue economist Chris Hurt says U.S. soybean sales are down sharply this marketing year, with Chinese purchases down 98% through December 6 after tariffs made U.S. beans uncompetitive. Other regions have bought more, but not enough to offset the 772 million bushel drop in Chinese demand.
Losing China as the peak-season buyer leaves a record U.S. crop to find other markets, keeping pressure on soybean prices.
