Indonesia has asked India to cut its tariff on refined palm oil to 45%, matching the levy Malaysia faces. In exchange, Indonesia offered India market access for sugar, according to Indonesia's trade ministry.
A lower Indian duty on Indonesian palm oil would expand export access to a major importer and could support Indonesian palm prices relative to Malaysian competitors. The outcome is still only a proposal.
