USDA's March Grain Stocks report put U.S. soybean stocks on March 1 at a record 2.72 billion bushels, above the 2.683 billion trade estimate. Corn stocks came in at 8.60 billion bushels, also above expectations, and May corn and soybean futures closed sharply lower.
Record soybean stocks and larger-than-expected corn supplies signal ample feed grain supply and weaker demand, which pressures futures and farm prices. Trade expectations were exceeded on both crops, adding to the bearish impact.
