Chicken farmgate prices in the Philippines are rising as consumers shift from pork to chicken after the African Swine Fever outbreak in the domestic hog herd. The United Broilers and Raisers Association said demand began climbing the week of Sept.
15-20, and regular-sized chicken averaged P97.33 per kilo on Sept. 27.
Substitution from pork toward poultry lifts demand for chicken and its feed inputs, supporting local chicken prices even as supply is described as adequate.
