Fern said the European Green Deal includes two forest initiatives and that the Commission will issue new regulatory measures for deforestation-free supply chains starting in 2020. The NGO warned that poor implementation could cause harm.
Planned EU rules on deforestation-free supply chains could restrict or raise the cost of imports of palm oil, soy, beef and cocoa, a longer-term bearish factor for these commodities into the EU market.
