Argentina's peso, the world's weakest currency over the past two years, is expected by BNP Paribas strategist Gabriel Gersztein to depreciate further as inflation remains persistently high. The forecast comes from the strategist recognised as most accurate in the fourth quarter of 2019.
Expected peso weakness tends to make Argentine soybean and meal exports cheaper in dollar terms, encouraging farmer selling and adding pressure on world soymeal and oil prices.
