African swine fever has spread through Asia Pacific, with dead pigs in Taiwan, culls in the Philippines and South Korea, and outbreaks in Indonesia. The disease is estimated to have wiped out 60 percent of China's pigs and a quarter of global pigs in 2019.
Large losses of global pig supply raise import demand for pork and feed, supporting hog prices and feed ingredient demand.
