Wheat prices recovered late in the week of October 24 after SRW and HRW had fallen to multi-year lows on the CBOT, driven by rumors of Chinese buying of U.S. wheat. Algeria made a significantly larger than expected wheat purchase, and frosty forecasts for Argentina added support.
Euronext remained muted, and the U.S. government shutdown left Chinese interest unconfirmed.
Unconfirmed Chinese demand rumors and a large Algerian tender lifted prices, but the abundant global stocks and larger Russian and Australian crops limit the upside.
