Richardson Pioneer will launch an Oat Procurement Program from January 2021 that sources only Canadian milling oats not treated with pre-harvest desiccants. Prairie Oat Growers say the policy may extend beyond glyphosate to all pre-harvest aids, and a premium for compliant oats is possible.
Buyer restrictions on pre-harvest treatments could tighten the supply of eligible milling oats and may support a premium for compliant Prairie oats, though the effect on feed oat prices is limited.
