LSU AgCenter says Louisiana's 2020 rice crop was better than 2019 despite four tropical systems. Planted acreage rose 13.8% to 476,497 acres.
Hurricane Laura hit after harvest had begun, with about 5% of the crop still in the field.
A larger Louisiana crop with near-record yields adds to US rice supply and modestly weighs on domestic prices.
