USDA put the December Class III milk price at $15.72 per hundredweight, down $7.62 from November and the lowest since May. The 2020 Class III average was $18.16, and the December Class IV price fell to its lowest since 2008.
Weak December prices signal softer milk and dairy-ingredient demand heading into 2021. Lower milk values can reduce farm-level spending on feed.
