Fieldfisher outlines compliance pressures from the proposed EU Deforestation Regulation on businesses trading palm oil, beef, soy, cocoa, coffee and wood. Firms would need to prove deforestation-free production after 31 December 2020 and file due diligence statements.
Mandatory due diligence and possible EU market suspension for non-compliant goods could divert or reprice soy, palm oil and beef supply toward non-EU buyers.
