France pushes for EU deforestation law as activists seek tougher measures

France, using its EU presidency, is pushing the anti-deforestation proposal, which would require geographic coordinates for goods and classify countries by risk. The proposal must still be approved by the bloc's 27 member states, and activists say it does not protect indigenous people.
