A Livemint analysis expects the rupee to stay rangebound near term and possibly settle around 80 to 80.5 per dollar over six months. It attributes the outlook to a less hawkish Fed, lower crude prices after a roughly 50% correction, and improving sentiment.
Lower energy prices and a softer dollar would reduce India's import costs and support demand for dollar-priced agricultural commodities, but the forecast is speculative.
