The dollar index surged to a six-month high on September 14 after U.S. retail sales rose 0.6% in August, above the 0.2% forecast, and producer prices beat estimates. The European Central Bank raised its key rate to a record 4% but signaled that it was likely done tightening, and the euro fell to about $1.0635.
