The US dollar weakened as expectations for Fed rate cuts grew. The dollar index slipped 0.2% to 103.20 and was headed for a monthly loss of more than 3%, its worst monthly performance since November 2022.
Rate futures showed about a 23% chance of an easing move as early as March.
The weaker dollar supports US commodity prices in dollar terms and improves the competitiveness of US feed grain and meal exports. The outlook for lower rates adds to that effect.
